National Recycling Week 2024

National recycle week 2024

National Recycling Week 14th – 20th October 2024

What is National Recycling Week?

National Recycling Week is an annual celebration of recycling across the UK. It takes place this year on the 14th of October until the 20th of October. Recycling week aims to raise awareness about the importance of recycling. This is a great opportunity for people all over the world to come together and support the noble cause of recycling. It is a simple way to contribute to a more sustainable future and to make the world a better place. The theme for this year is ‘Rescue Me’ focusing on rescuing recyclable items from heading to the rubbish bin and we would like to thank this years sponsors, Tesco and Boots.

How do we support National Recycling Week?

This year to support recycle week we are having a group of customers visiting our sister site Hawkmet for a tour to learn all about metal recycling. Teaching others about the importance of recycling will help our future improve. By recycling our metals, we build a healthier planet for ourselves and future generations.

Different types of waste we recycle

At Recycling Management, we recycle all kinds of waste streams such as:

We collect and recycle both Ferrous and Non-Ferrous metals. This is our most common waste stream, as we pay top rebate prices and have great customer relationships. General mixed waste is also another extremely popular waste stream. Every business will produce it, which is why we provide a five star easy collection service to give you satisfaction. It is not an easy waste stream to recycle, so you can just leave it to us and we will deal with it all for you.

How is waste recycled?

To recycle waste we start off by providing different sized bins depending on how much waste our customers produce. We then collect the waste ready to be recycled. All of the mixed recycling is sorted and separated into different types of materials by hand/machine or both. The waste is then sent to manufactures who make it into new products. For example, a pair of jeans could include an average of 8 recycled plastic bottles. By using waste materials to make new products which are fully recyclable, we can reuse the same materials over and over again. This highly reduces CO2 emissions, stops consumption of the planets precious resources and eliminates pollution; the three core environmental challenges humanity faces.

How are metals 100% recycled?

At Recycling Management, we provide our customers with containers such as bins/skips/Roll On Roll Off containers (ROROs), different sizes to meet their needs. Once they have filled their container with scrap metal, our drivers pick up the container, tip the metals at our yard and replace their container. We then send the metals through our privately owned large scale shredder, the metals are separated into Non-Ferrous and Ferrous piles. After our metals are all separated they are processed, often melted down and manufactured into new materials.

How to contribute to the circular economy

Here at Recycling Management we work closely with all Manufacturers turning the remnants of all the industrial scrap metals. Transforming the post-production scrap metal into new materials that can be used to create consumer and industrial goods such as; Aluminium windows, electronic goods, steel coils. We have invested not only in our people, our services, but our technology to turn your by-products such as borings and turnings separating and purifying the wastes into product.

Our aim is to reuse as much post production scrap metal & by-product as we can direct into mill or end use. Our ambition is to eliminate all unnecessary land-filling of residues. Providing a closed loop for all our clients who produce metals (both ferrous and non-ferrous), wastes, wood, Hazardous, Electrical & cables.

Social media

To encourage your audience during Recycle Awareness Week; here are some social media content ideas:

  • Share tips on how to recycle correctly, including what items can and cannot be recycled
  • Highlight the environment benefits of recycling, such as reducing landfill waste and conserving resources
  • Post about the importance of reducing contamination in recycling streams and how to avoid it
